Excellent squadron
I CAN’T believe that RNAS Culdrose will no longer be a base for search and rescue flying.
The 771 Squadron is, for the public, the most famous rescue squadron in Great Britain.
I've been on personnel exchange with 771 as aircrewman and SAR diver (1978 to 1982). I was always very proud to be a member of this excellent Ace of Clubs Squadron. During my time we carried out a lot of rescue missions. It was for me a tremendous time in the Royal Navy.
So I can understand that most people in Cornwall are very disappointed to lose the military search and rescue unit.
