SO, Mr Draper from Burton-on-Trent says that Falmouth is a dump and he can't wait to get home. Does he believe that, just because Falmouth is a town in a far away place near the sea, that it automatically excludes it from problems suffered elsewhere in the country?

Go into most pubs in a town and you'll find your fair share of badly dressed, drunken, foul mouthed, noisy teenagers. As for the alleged sighting of drug taking in a toilet, I can only say that, as a serial public toilet goer - for its proper use, I hasten to add - I've never seen anything dodgy. In fact, can I just mention what a huge improvement the Grove Place car park toilets are to last year, much better.

I admit that the High Street is a nightmare. Personally, the cobbles are not an issue with us (we have more important things to worry about in life!). If we don't want the shops we tend to climb the steps and walk parallel to the High Street, where it is unbelievably quiet! Today we witnessed a rare sighting - the traffic warden! He was issuing fixed penalty notices to cars in these roads where there was no passing traffic and, though I don't dispute that they were illegally parked, they were certainly not causing any obstructions. Why was he not in the High Street below dishing out his tickets and thus creating a nice little earner for the council? Another missed opportunity was last week when we saw a policeman standing in a shop doorway having a nice chat with the general public whilst the traffic mayhem gathered momentum around him!

Despite this we love our time in Falmouth. So Mr D, as a fellow Burtonian, I know which dump I'd rather live in!
