I SEE from the markings I noticed on Trescobeas Road that we are about to have inflicted on us even more speed bumps. At present Trescobeas Road is the only route into town from the south and west which does not have these obstructions. Once these are installed the only way into town without obstruction will be via Ponsharden.

Many drivers, like me, avoid roads with speed bumps, not because we wish to drive fast but because we wish to avoid the wear and tear on our steering alignment and suspension which they cause and this will undoubtedly give rise to more traffic congestion on an already busy Ponsharden.

I can appreciate the need for the safety of pupils of Falmouth School, which is no doubt the purpose of these particular installations, but there are already pinch points and traffic lights to slow down traffic and at the time when the pupils are going to and from school there is always traffic congestion which precludes any excess speed.

My main concern is that the installation of these measures seems to be a completely undemocratic process – no doubt imposed by people who have little heed for drivers because they don’t use the particular roads themselves.
