Welcome sign of the times that a new hotel is to open

Falmouth and Penryn have seen a boom in visitor numbers over the past ten years and this is not due to the efforts of the Hoteliers Association, rather the numbers bought in as a result of the further education facilities and the subsequent visiting parents and friends.

Whilst I understand the concerns of Ms Hobbs and her colleagues, there can never be any case for blatant protectionism and the squeezing out of non-local hotel organisations such as Whitbread. Market forces will always prevail.

I have stayed in hotels throughout this country and would dispute that Premier Inn is in any way an inferior product, simply because it is razor sharp with its tarrifs.

The product is of a very high standard with good furnishings, quality beds and very good quality linen. The en-suites are invariably immaculate and are regularly refurbished. The breakfasts are not subject to unexpectedly high charges, being an eat as much as you like buffet of good quality traditional English breakfast, branded cereals,and also quality, branded hot and cold drinks . Evening meals are also of a good standard.

Perhaps Ms Hobbs should visit the nearby Carnon Downs Premier Inn before commenting further on quality. I wish Ms Hobbs and her colleagues well, however they must compete rather than moan. It is a welcome sign of the times that a new hotel is to open in Falmouth after all these years.
