What does it take to make a Cornwall Councillor relinquish their seat?
Not just a criminal conviction, if the case of Hanna Toms is anything to go by.

This week Ms Toms admitted in a court of law to defrauding the DWP and Cornwall Council to the tune of £10,000, but yet she will not leave.

Sure, Ms Toms maintains that she did nothing wrong, in so far as she did not intend to take money she wasn’t owed, but she should make sure to do the right thing now.

Still there is one positive spin that could be put on this refusal, assuming she really doesn’t stand for re-election: she won’t cost the taxpayer any money in the form of a by-election.
