Two fire engines and a rope rescue vehicle from Camborne were called out to a stuck Shire horse yesterday after it became trapped in an old mine shaft between Penzance and St Ives.
Rescue crews were mobilised at 1.41pm to the shaft, at Nancledra.
Using shovels, they dug down along the edge of the pit to create enough space for the horse to walk out.
This is the second time in as many days that firefighters have been called out to rescue horses in Cornwall.
