Firefighters were called out to 15 hectares of gorse ablaze on the Lizard just after 3pm yesterday.
Twenty firefighters from Mullion, Helston and St Keverne Community Fire Stations had to be drafted in after stong winds were fanning the flames off the A3083 on The Lizard side of Mullion
The incident was brought under control by the fire crews using beaters by 5pm. Arson is suspected and Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed.
A crew was called back to the area from St Keverne after a two hectare gorse fire broke out approximately half a mile from the road at Goonhilly Downs, Gwendreath, just after 5pm.
Firefighters used beaters to extinguish the flames by 6pm.
