Cafe Polyglot, the club for lovers of foreign languages and which provides a welcome to Falmouth for people new to the town, held its AGM on Thursday.

It was the occasion for its founder and long-standing chairperson, Victoria Dufour, to stand down from her post in order to take a back-seat and to encourage other members to take on some of the organisational roles. Victoria established Cafe Polyglot Falmouth nearly four years ago and since that time it has grown steadily and attracts local people along with people from overseas who either study in the town or who have decided to make Falmouth their home.

Meeting every Thursday evening at the Falmouth Watersports Centre, we regularly provide the opportunity to practise French, Spanish and English and quite often Italian, Russian, German and Cornish. Jan Webb gave a vote of thanks to Victoria for the dedication she has shown in establishing Cafe Polyglot and to help it to thrive during this period and presented her with a rose bush for her garden and a bouquet of flowers.

Anyone interested in coming along to practise a language can come along at 7.30pm any Thursday or contact Tony Casey on 01326 312936 for more information.
