A crucial meeting that could help decide the future of Falmouth School's plans for the former Budock Hospital site is to be held on Friday. It follows the announcement that the derelict site has been taken off the market after Health Minister, Jeremy Hunt, intervened.

Volunteers in Stithians handed over three years worth of work this week that will form the basis for a new parish plan. The handover to the parish council took place on Saturday at the village’s produce market.

After a ten-year saga of knockbacks and refusal, one Penryn housebuilder is now coming forward with a new plan to build four three-storey townhouses on West End Industrial Estate.

Milron & Co was granted outline planning permission by the government last year, but in the previous nine years had three schemes refused by Cornwall Council.

Penryn Town Council is looking for a new member to be appointed by co-option. The vacancy has arisen following the resignation of Victor Tullin due to personal reasons earlier this year.

Mr Tullin was himself only made a member of the town council by co-option in November 2012.

An application for 42 new homes on the outskirts of Mawnan Smith has been submitted to Cornwall Council. The outline planning application calls for the houses to be built on Goldmartin Field off of Sampys Hill at the north west of the village.

Veteran of the Penryn air raid that claimed 18 lives during World War Two, 90-year-old Ivor Pascoe, visited the town’s junior school last week to share his experiences.

Chloe Phillips, from Cornwall Record Office, was also on hand to show the children real historical artefacts from wartime Penryn:
