The decade-long search for a new cemetery for Stithians appears to finally be over.

At the June meeting of the parish council, councillors heard that a site above the village cricket club had been agreed “yet there was a sticking point over the route of access which threatened to scupper the whole project,” parish clerk John Calvert said.

Yet at their latest meeting the Glebe Committee, which owns the land, agreed that a road created by the cricket club could be used for access. “Which will be good news for those living near the proposed site, and means it is full steam ahead once again,” Mr Calvert said.
