A homeless man from Hayle, guilty of public drunkenness, was detained in the court this week after he had no money to pay a victim surcharge.
Ceith Jeffrey McAllister appeared in Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
The 43-year-old pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a communal stairwell at Trevoarn on July 1.
Chair of the magistrates John Richardson handed down a 12 month conditional discharge to McAllister, who was detained within the precincts of the court until 3pm in lieu of payment for the £15 victim surcharge due to "lack of means."
