A woman from Hayle has received a community order after admitting housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud totalling £6,040.26.
Sara Dennis (27) of Green Parc Road, Hayle pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates Court on Friday 27 September 2013 to four counts of benefit fraud; two of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that she had an increase in earnings and two of providing false statements in respect of a claim to benefit.
Miss Dennis was also ordered to pay £920 in respect of the Council’s investigation and legal costs and £60 Victim Surcharge.
The overpaid benefits are being recovered from Miss Dennis by Cornwall Council separately from this Court action.
