Cakes, buns, pies and hot drinks were the order of the day as schools, cafes, pubs and village halls hosted events in support of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Falmouth Primary School was one of the first events with parents invited in by head teacher Claire Smith to join her for a piece of cake and a cuppa. They raised £50 for the appeal.
The Caddyshack Cafe at Falmouth Pitch and Putt proved a big hit with visitors who popped in throughout the day to enjoy some of the home-cooked goodies on offer.
There was also a chance to win £20 by guessing how many coffee beans there were in a jar.
The sweepstake was won by Terry Bullen who donated to Macmillan which brought the total raised during the day to £415.
Residents of Mawnan Smith always turn out in force for the village’s event and this year was no exception. Held in the Memorial Hall and organised by Janet Smith, there were sweet and savoury treats on offer as well as a raffle.
By the end of the day at least £800 had been raised for the cancer charity, though that total could still rise.
The Seven Stars on The Moor in Falmouth also held a coffee morning, though plans to hold it outside were scuppered by the high winds.
Delicious buns, cakes, coffee and tea were on offer to customers who dropped in to support the cause. It isn’t yet known how much was raised.
