Despite taking a break from the rigours of the main South West in Bloom competition, Mullion has continued to win awards this year.
Members of the Mullion in Bloom Association decided to enjoy the gardening without the pressure of being judged, but have still won plaudits in the neighbourhood awards part of the competition.
Both the Mullion Garden and Tremenhee Car Park were judged to be “outstanding”, while Mullion Junior School's gardens, Mullion allotment holders and Colroger Holiday Homes were “thriving” and Mullion Comprehensive School, which this year started work on an anti dog fouling campaign, received a “developing” award for its posters and social awareness.
Volunteers are now starting to clear the faded summer plants to make way for autumn, winter and spring planting.
Association chairman Mary Kemp said: “Mullion in Bloom committee would like to thank all who have worked so hard to make our village so special, our gardeners, our sponsors and Mullion Parish Council for their continued assistance and support.”
