Visitors will be able to squeeze plenty of fun out of the day when they celebrate all things apple in Kehelland next weekend.

Now in its ninth year, the 2013 Kehelland Apple Day will take place on Saturday, October 12.

The day runs from 11am until 4pm and will showcase around 100 varieties of apples in its exhibition, as well as offer apples, juice, cider and tree sales.

Haylestorm Samba will provide musical accompaniment and visitors will also be able to enjoy a crafters yurt, craft sales, farmers’ market, miniature traction engines, model boats, man-powered carousel and shire horse rides.

Entry is £3 for adults, while children go free.

Kehelland Trust manager Anthea Hedge said: “Kehelland Trust has gone through a lot of positive change over the last few months. Apple Day has given us the perfect opportunity to unveil all that we have been working on.

“We have a new prospectus detailing the many ways adults with learning disabilities can access training and services here and our new website has been launched. We are very excited about our future here at Kehelland.”

Food will be available from the trust’s new kitchen, including a barbecue serving pork and apple sausages using its own apples.

FEAST funded flag project ‘Source to Sky’ will also come to fruition on the day, as seven sail flags – created in a series of workshops led by community textile artist Hazel McGregor – will be unveiled.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to try their hand at printing techniques with Hazel to help decorate the roof space of the new pergola in the Cornish Orchard.

A ‘Cider Stomp’ featuring Black Friday and support by Biere de Luxe will take the event through to the evening in a combination of high energy folk, punk, celtic rock, traditional jigs and reels.

Tickets for this are available in advance from Cornish Riviera Box Office, or on site during the day. Advance tickets cost £5, or £6.50 on the door.
