On Sunday harvest festival was celebrated at 8am, low mass, Father Stephen was celebrant.

Sunday 6th of October was Harvest Festival at St Gluvias Church.

The 10am service started with 'Come ye thankful people come' whilst the congregation followed the altar party and choir to give their harvest offerings. At St Gluvias it is custom to give money, the chosen charity this year is Children's Hospice Southwest.

Richard Hopper read the first lesson, and Paul Campbell read the second. Fr Stephen proclaimed the gospel, and preached the sermon. Father Christopher Firth led the prayers of intercession.

During the communion the choir sang the anthem 'Praise O Praise our God and King' by Martin How.

Daniel Shermon was the organist who concluded the service with 'Theme on Orlando Gibbons song 22' by Charles V Stanford.

Congratulations Lillian, Penny and Esme and all who helped and contributed to the coffee morning. Over £600 was raised for ShelterBox (Syrian appeal) thank you to all who came and supported this worthy cause.

Thank you also to the quiz team that raised £70 for the children's hospice, this is planned to be a more regular event. Thank you also to everyone who decorated the church so beautifully for the harvest services.

Sung solemn evensong and benediction was held in the evening.

In the prayers of intercession Fr Stephen prayed especially for David Sanders, who is in hospital at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Daniel Shermon was the organist and played the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, by Handel as a concluding voluntary.
