This is a community group where people from a wide range of countries living, working or studying in Falmouth who meet on a social basis to practise various languages and to learn about each other’s cultures.

On Thursday they welcomed members of the Café Polyglot group from Penzance. A dozen members of the Penzance group which was formed just over a year ago and came along to the Falmouth Watersports Centre to combine their linguistic skills with the Falmouth polyglots. In all, about 35 people enjoyed an evening chatting in French, Italian, Spanish and Hungarian along with the opportunity for some of our overseas members to practise their English.

Future events include a return visit to Café Polyglot Penzance on Thursday, November 21 and an International Food Evening on Thursday, December 5 when members are invited to bring along items of food from their own countries or regions.

Café Polyglot’s normal get-togethers take place at Falmouth Watersports Centre every Thursday from 7.30pm onwards.
