Falmouth Harbour Commissioners will again be welcoming Tall Ships to Falmouth in August next year for the Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta.

As an Official Partner, Falmouth Harbour Commissioners will be central to the success of the Regatta, with responsibility for vessel management and safety of marine activity, providing the link between the Tall Ships taking part and the port. Pilot boats will be the first to greet the magnificent square rigged vessels to assist them with navigation to and from their berths at Queen’s Wharf in Falmouth Docks.

Ships are registering to take part in the Regatta on an almost daily basis, 31 entries have been received to date with ships from the UK, Netherlands, Portugal and the Caribbean signed up. Nine of the large square rigged Tall Ships, which will be open to the public, have registered, the latest being the Gulden Leew, which is 71 metres in length, with the smallest ship being the Kukri at 17 metres long. Eve of St Mawes and Eda Frandsen, both local vessels, will take part in the Regatta. Details of all the ships taking part can be found on the Regatta website, www.falmouthtallships.co.uk/ships Custom House Quay will be an excellent site to absorb the festival atmosphere of the Regatta, with panoramic views of the ships in the Docks and at Port Pendennis Marina.

Mark Sansom, Chief Executive and Harbour Master at Falmouth Harbour Commissioners, said: "We are delighted to once again welcome the Tall Ships back to Falmouth. An event of this scale creates great interest in the town and Falmouth Harbour Commissioners is delighted to play a part in facilitating the Tall Ships visit to ensure that footfall in Falmouth is maximised and that the whole community benefits.”

“Falmouth is the third natural deepest harbour in the world and where better to showcase these magnificent vessels” enthuses John Hick, Falmouth Chairman of the Regatta. “We are pleased to announce Falmouth Harbour Commissioners as an Official Partner, they are vital to the successful organisation, planning and running of the Regatta.”
