WITH division one of the Mining Division Snooker League having completed the first half of their fixtures, attention last week focused on divisions two and three.

Godolphin A finished the half still unbeaten in division two, with a 3-2 victory at Four Lanes A. Peter Dower narrowly beat Alan Williams and Robert Buckingham beat Bill Williams for the home team's two points.

Godolphin A have an impressive 11 point lead over nearest pursuers Penponds, with Porthleven and Camborne Conservative close behind in third and fourth places. Only four points then cover the next eight teams, showing how closely matched much of the division is. Indeed, the majority of matches in the first half have finished in 3-2 results.

Last week Penponds beat Camborne Conservative 3-2 with wins for Craig Thomas, Clive Thomas and Matthew Williams. Jamie Read, making a rare excursion into division two, made a 51 break in Redruth RBL's 3-2 win at Redruth British Rail. Four Lanes B finished the season five points adrift of Illogan at the bottom.

Even without their last result of the half, Redruth RBL Youth top the division three table by one point from Perranporth Golf Club and Playing Place in joint-second. Playing Place are in their highest position so far, and last week won 5-0 at Redruth Club C, but Perranporth GC went down to a 3-2 defeat at Illogan.

Only four points cover second to seventh, making this the closest and most competitive division three for a number of years.

I would like to express my thanks to all clubs, players, captains, email contributors, and not least the league committee and officers for making this a great season so far!
