An extensive coverage of West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly was the feature of president Alan Cox's slide show evening.
Superb aerial shots of the coastline on the way to the islands, coupled with the story of lighthouses and the part lifeboats played in the area's life and sometimes with tragic outcomes. Visiting the various islands in sequence, Alan, as a frequent visitor, was able to give expert advice to intending travellers on what to include in their itinerary.
Chairman Dean Evans thanked the presenter and his co-ordinator wife Anne who also provided special refreshments.
The long-awaited visit of Falmouth University students is due this week when Mal Stone introduces his young charges who will divulge their experiences in the world of photojournalism.
Thelma Hope will be the judge in the three-way club competition involving the home club, St Ives and Helston on February 13. The annual digital all-creative projected image competition for the Ted Pimlott Trophy is on the horizon, the subject this year being "A Vehicle".
All meetings are held at the Athenaeum Club on Thursdays at 7.30pm where a welcome awaits all with an interest in photography.
