THREEMILESTONE 0 ROBARTES 2

THREEMILESTONE suffered their first home defeat of the season in the One and All Sports Mining League with a lacklustre display against a good Robartes side who gained a deserved victory.

Threemilestone were unable to take advantage of the strong wind in the first half. Pete Pascoe headed against the post from Ryan Stephens' corner and Marc Taylor had a couple of efforts saved by his namesake in the Robartes goal as the sides remained level at 0-0 at half time.

In the second half both teams again were evenly matched until a cross from the right was deflected into his own net by Terry Spargo to give Robartes the lead.

Although the Stones pushed on to get an equaliser too many passes were rushed and failed to find their intended targets leaving Robartes rarely tested at the back.

A mix up in the centre of the 'Stones half led to the second goal for the visitors, which was a well taken strike from 20 yards.

Ryan Stephens almost pulled a goal back with a shot from 12 yards, but it wasn't to be the 'Stones day as it went just the wrong side of the post with the 'keeper beaten.

Jason Peters was the man of the match with four of the six first half goals, one a clever 20-yard lob over the home side's 'keeper. Jason Pearce added another and Martyn Jay completed the first half scoring with a 30-yard free kick.

In the second half the 'Stones defended well against the gale force wind to keep a clean sheet and Jason Pearce added his second goal of the game to the already one-sided score line to wrap up a comfortable three points.
