A disabled Penryn woman was left in a potentially life and death situation on Monday after being blocked in by inconsiderate drivers.

Philippa Crooks, of Treliever Road, suffers from epilepsy and a condition called CMT which affects the nerves in her legs and arms. She often has to make trips to the hospital for treatment and emergencies if she has an epileptic fit.

On Monday morning, Philippa and her husband David were shocked to discover that their car had been blocked in from both sides with only a couple of inches of space left.

David said: "Often I have to take my wife to hospital but there was no way I could get the car out today. Parking is a real problem around here but we have never been blocked in like this before.

"I just hope my wife does not have a fit because otherwise I would not be able to get her to the hospital."

Philippa added: "I could be in a life or death situation but the people who park here don't even consider that. I have a disabled badge and it is clearly left in the car at all times."

Mr Crooks contacted the Packet after reading an article in last week's edition about problems with parking by the Treliever roundabout.

The police have said that because there are no parking restrictions along the road there is very little they could do but they would be speaking with the county council and University College Falmouth to try and find solutions to the problems.
