As the Tall Ships fleet sailed past Castle Beach around noon in Sunday's bright sunshine, the Nankersey Male Choir sang on the lawn of the Falmouth Hotel to a crowd estimated in hundreds.

The choir was conducted by its musical director, Elaine Tangye. The accompanist for this event was Michael Uren, to whom the choir is very grateful. The choir's programme, half as long again as a normal concert, was delivered in three sections and had variety to satisfy all musical tastes. Afterwards Elaine Tangye said she was pleased with how well the choir had managed with performing in the open air and what a pleasure it had been to perform to such an appreciative audience.

Nankersey can next be heard in a joint concert with other male choirs to raise funds for fishermen seriously affected by last winter's bad weather, in Redruth Methodist Church on Saturday, September 13 starting at 7.30 pm.

The choir practises in St Peter's Church Hall, Flushing on Mondays from 7.30pm to about 9.30pm. Gentlemen who would like to try singing with a male choir are welcome to attend, but please first contact the secretary, Fred Bidgood on 01326 373984.
