A tyre depot in St Day was sealed off last night by police over fears the blaze may spread to nearby buildings.
Four appliances from Redruth, Camborne, Falmouth and Truro were called out to the depot at United Downs Industrial Estate at around 8.13pm.
The fire threatened to spread to two adjoining buildings but was brought under control by the fire crews later in the evening and they were still at the scene, damping down this morning.
Some oxyacetylene canisters at the rear of the premises also required cooling overnight due to heat damage and a cordon was set up and the area evacuated.
Crew member were also removing surplus tyres by hand and a thermal image camera was used to check for heat.
The area remains sealed off for safety reasons and police say they are making inquiries into the cause of the fire.
