Cornwall School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) offers training locally for graduates to become secondary school teachers.
With the shortage of modern foreign language teachers in schools, they are prioritising the support they offer to language graduates interested in teaching as a career. They are offering advice sessions on all the available routes into teaching, open days and the chance to spend time in a local secondary school to observe language teaching.
The past success of the SCITT is a great credit to local Cornish secondary schools, who work in partnership in training the student teachers.
There are places still available for September 2007 in maths, science, design and technology, music, modern languages and ICT, but English has a waiting list. Contact Linda Robins on 01872 267092 or email scitt@trurocollege.ac.uk for further details.
