11+ candidates and their families are being invited to a very different kind of pre-entrance test event at Truro High School for Girls.

As well as having the opportunity to spend a day at the school as a "taster", prospective pupils are also being given the chance to let their hair down with possible future classmates.

Instead of being preoccupied by talk of books and lessons, guests are being asked to take part in a wide range of exciting activities including a flash, bang, wallop photo shoot, a European tuck shop test and a fun event called Hermione and Harry go Greek.

"This will be the first time that we have ever done anything like this, but we wanted candidates to see that, although we are a high achieving school, we firmly believe that it's very important for pupils to enjoy themselves," said headmaster Michael McDowell. "The evening is intended to be interactive because that is how learning should be."

The event is being held on Thursday, January 25, and is open to all Year 6 pupils and their families.
