After a lovely summer break it was good to see everyone refreshed and raring to go. A few of our group participated in the Helston WI Lawn Green Bowling event during the holidays. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and highly recommended it.

We welcomed Debbie who recently moved into the village. Anne Gray, one of our members, was giving a sugar paste demonstration. Anne became interested in cake decorating when her children were small and she made their birthday cakes. Over the years she has taught herself more intricate designs and continues to challenge herself by making wedding cakes etc. This was a ‘hands on’ activity from the start. So with much laughter, icing sugar everywhere (some in more places than others) and a lot of chatter, everybody attempted to make three different kinds of flowers, some achieving greater success than others! By the end of the evening, feeling very proud of ourselves we had realistic looking flowers, quite an achievement as most had never tried this before.

We all went home with smiles on our faces, many wanting to try it at home.

The competition ‘A Decorated Cupcake’ was won by Fay Illife.

Our meetings are held in the Methodist Church Hall, at 7.30pm on the second Thursday of each month. Anyone who would like to find out more about us please contact Margo Sawle on 01736 762334
