The eucharist service was celebrated by the Rev Lesley Walker. Her sermon asked the question "Do we say what we mean, or do we mean what we say?"
It was based on the texts from Matthew’s gospel in which the chief priests questioned Jesus' authority and went on to tell the parable of the two sons. The elder son had been asked by his father to work in the vineyard but he refused although he later changed his mind and went. The younger son was also asked and he agreed to work, but he did not go. The lessons were read by Mary Wood and the Rector.
Next week's service is the Harvest Festival at 11.15am, followed by Harvest supper and auction on Monday at 7pm in the Vyvyan Coach House. Proceeds will be for Save the Children fund.
