A gate worth £585 has been stolen from Falmouth Cemetery just over a year after it was installed.
The gate was put up at the cemetery during refurbishment work carried out by Falmouth town council last year and is believed to have been stolen sometime between Friday January 19 and Sunday January 21.
Lee Mitchell, sexton for Falmouth town council, said: "The gate was situated at the rear of the new cemetery and opened on to Captain's Walk. It is quite a sturdy gate and would have taken two people to carry it away. It is very disheartening when something like this happens."
Mr Mitchell added that the gate had been there on Friday but when we arrived at the cemetery on Monday morning it had disappeared.
The gate is around 5'10" high and 2'6" wide and is painted black. Anyone with any information as to its whereabouts should contact Falmouth town council on 01326 315559.
