TOWNSHEND

VILLAGE HALL: “The Lunchbox” is the film showing this Saturday - a mistaken delivery in Mumbai’s famously efficient lunchbox delivery system connects a young housewife to an older man in the dusk of his life.

They build a fantasy world together through notes in the lunchbox. Doors open at 6.45pm with the film starting at 7.30pm. Please ring Les Hudson for more details on 01736 850740.

The Film Club would also like to thank Chris Trevan for obtaining the grant from the Community Fund via the Lottery which has enabled the club to buy its own film equipment. Thanks also go to Roger Palfry for sourcing and selecting the new equipment and for being the chief projectionist.

On Saturday, October 25 at 7pm is an evening of Cornish stories, music and fun entitled "The Salt Roads". Tickets will include a pasty and scones, jam and cream. The price for adults is £8 and children £6. Tickets are available from Les Hudson on 01736 850740.

ANNUAL VILLAGE SHOW: Thank you to everyone who supported the show. Thanks also to all those who entered, to those who came along, sampled cakes and bought raffle tickets. It was a great fun day and £128 was raised for the Friends of Godolphin, which we are pleased to be contributing to this local project.

CROWAN

CHURCH: On Sunday the bells rang to welcome the congregation. The service was taken by the Rev Tony Seymour; music was played by Colin; readers were Howard and Sharon; prayers of intercessions were read by Nick and the lovely flowers were arranged by Sharon. Please note as from next Sunday the morning service time will be 11.15am.

The service of meditation, silence at six, on Sunday evening was taken by Colin. You are welcome to join us next Sunday from 10.15am for morning coffee or tea and biscuits before the service which will be held in the parish rooms.

Thanks to everyone who came along and supported the Cornish Evening, in the Praze Institute on Friday, October 10. There was a slide show of local Cornish places by Mrs Charman and thanks must go to her for the interesting and amusing evening she gave to everyone. This was followed by a Cornish supper and a Cornish raffle. During the supper the St Aubyn Singers performed for everyone’s enjoyment.

CROWAN’S GOT TALENT: As last year’s event was such a success it will be held again on Saturday, November 22 at 7pm. The host for the evening will be Geoff James. If you would like to take part (all acts are welcome), please let Geoff, Sheila or Amanda know. Amanda can also be reached on 01209 832210 for more information.
