Falmouth police are urging householders to be extra vigilant after receiving several reports of suspicious meter readers operating in the area.
People claiming to be from gas or electric companies have called at addresses without ID and requested to read the meters. A police spokesman said: “We remind you to be vigilant and always ask for proof of identification from anyone before allowing them into your home.
“If in doubt do not allow them to enter, ask for their details, and contact the relevant company to confirm their identity and make arrangements for a visit at a later date.”
