An early Christmas present was collected for a cancer charity in Mullion when £475 was raised through a festive fair.
The Mullion branch of Cancer Research UK took over the WI hall on Saturday with all manner of seasonal stalls selling gifts, bric-a-brac and cakes, plus a large raffle.
Thanks have been given to everyone who took along prizes and attended the event, which |was described as extremely |well supported.
The total money raised included the amount collected through a fundraising quiz sheet, which was devised by John Eddy from Helston and challenged people to name towns and villages in Cornwall. This was won by George Shields, a resident of Mullion.
Mr Eddy was thanked for providing the quiz, along with everyone who took part. The event included a presentation to long-serving member of the branch, Jenny Banks, who has been treasurer for so long that even |she cannot remember the exact date she took on the role.
Anne-Marie James, from the head office of Cancer Research UK, presented Jenny with a bouquet in recognition of her efforts.
So far this year the branch has raised £4,500 for the charity.
