Police have charged a man in connection with a chemical attack in Truro.
David Phillips, 48, from Hastings, Sussex, has been charged with GBH with intent. He is due to appear at Truro Magistrates Court on Monday, December 15.
A 16 year-old youth arrested in Sussex on suspicion of attempted murder has been released with no further action being taken.
The incident took place in Carrine Road on Tuesday, December 9, following reports that a corrosive substance, believed to be acid, had been thrown in a man’s face.
The 29-year-old victim was attacked in his own home at around 4pm.
Police, ambulance and fire service attended the scene. The man was taken to Treliske Hospital, Truro, with life-threatening facial injuries. He has since been transferred to a specialist unit where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
