Sunday opening of St Erth Post Office has been given the stamp of approval.
It is part of a number of alterations at the branch in School Lane, St Erth, which will close temporarily on January 8 at 6.30pm for refurbishment.
When it reopens on January 14, at 1pm, it will be in a “local” branch format, including a combination counter in the store, where the post office terminal will sit alongside the till.
Services will be available seven days a week during the store’s opening hours, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 7pm, and now also Sunday, from 9am until 4pm.
This represents an extra 16 hours and 30 minutes a week more than previously offered. It will also mark an end to lunchtime closing.
David Gold, area manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Hayle and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community in St Erth will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy to the end of the decade.”
Alternative branches during the closure include: Hayle Post Office at Penpol Terrace and Copperhouse Post Office, Fore Street, Hayle.
