The outline of the old Glasney College has been seen in Penryn for the first time in almost 350 years, as revealed by this picture captured recently by a drone camera.
The picture, taken by operators Cornish Drone, shows the lines of the walls of the old collegiate church, which was pulled down for materials following its closure, ordered by Edward VI in 1548.
The lines were redrawn by artists Simon Persighetti and Katie Etheridge as part of a programme marking the 750th anniversary of the college's founding, held during this year's Penryn Arts Festival. The artists were helped with by local company Clear Mapping, and painted the lines using equipment borrowed from St Gluvias Cricket Club.
A follow-up meeting to the work, entitled In Polesthow Shall Habitations or Marvellous Things be Seen, to review the project and its cultural implications, will be held in Penryn Town Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 9, during Cornish Language Week.
