A family were forced from their home by a blaze in the kitchen after a dishwasher caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
The occupants of the detached house on Restronguet Hill in Mylor had to leave just before 3am as the property filled with smoke
Two fire engines from Falmouth with eleven firefighters were sent to the scene, and on arrival started fighting the flames with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a safety jet were in use, before calling for a third fire engine from Truro with a further six firefighters at around 3.10am.
By around 3.15am there were four engines on scene using four breathing apparatus and two hosereels to extinguish the fire in the 10 metre by 12 metre building.
A fire service spokesperson said: "The Fire and Emergency Support vehicle (FESS) staffed by Red Cross volunteers was mobilised to the scene to assist and support the occupants.
"At 3.45am the fire was confirmed as out, the dishwasher involved in the fire was removed to outside of the premises by firefighters."
Fire crews then blew the smoke from the house with a positive pressure fan and cut away in the building to ensure that no hot spots remained.
