AN old fashioned fete filled with traditional stalls and games proved a real hit with supporters of Save the Children in Constantine last weekend.
Organised by Yvonne Clisby, a committee member of the Constantine, Mawnan Smith and Treverva branch of Save the Children, and held at her home, the fete raised £1,232 for the charity.
"It was absolutely fantastic," said Mrs Clisby. "We had a lovely day. It was a really old fashioned type fete with a coconut shy, hoopla and hook the duck - all the old things."
As well as the games, there was a range of stalls selling cakes, bric-a-brac and plants and a nearly new clothes stall which proved extremely popular, bringing in £200 on its own. Refreshments came in the form of cream teas and a barbecue and entertainment was provided by the children of Constantine School's choir and a ukulele band.
