Police are appealing for information after an attack left a dog with a bitten ear on Watergate Bay beach near Newquay last week.

The owner of a Staffordshire biull terrier which was being walked along the beach on Tuesday, August 11, reported that a tortoiseshell Staffordshire bull terrier or small brindle pit bull attacked their dog at around 10am

The owner said the dog, which was being walked by a woman who also had a cocker spaniel and a white dog, approached her dog, attacking it and biting its ear and refusing to let go until they were separated.

A 47 year old woman from Dorset reported her dog, a springer spaniel, was also attacked by the same dog at around the same time while walking on the beach.

Police are looking for the owner of the dog, which they said was "dangerously out of control", who left the beach without passing her details to the other dog owners.

A police spokesperson said: "She is described as white, in her 30s or 40s, with blonde straight shoulder-length hair.

"Both dogs that had been attacked needed veterinary treatment. The owner of one of the dogs was also badly bitten on the hand."
