TRURO CITY 3

FALMOUTH TOWN 1

TRURO City are 90 minutes away from a place in the Jolly's Combination League Supplementary Cup after they defeated Falmouth Town 3-1 in their quarter-final tie.

City began brightly, dominating the early possession, and it came as no surprise when they took the lead in the 20th minute when they found themselves with a three-on-one position. After drawing the final defender Steve Winnan slid the ball to Luke Wort who thumped in a shot that despite Matt Prynn got a hand to was unable to prevent it ending up in the net.

City always looked busy and always threatened a second goal, but it was Town who snapped up the next goal when Bobby Bryant lobbed Payne after a defender sliced his clearance.

City increased the tempo in the second half and that proved far too much for Town who never made an impression.

City edged back in front with a second goal in the 65th minute when Luke Wort headed in a corner and ten minutes later City scored a third goal when Winnan crossed for Martin Moon to head past Prynn.

"They didn't really test our 'keeper," said manager Gary Pascoe, "and in the end it proved a comfortable win."

Town play Helston in the semi-final at Wendron on Sunday, kick off 3 pm.
