SIMON Phillips (20 handicap) won the Men's Anniversary Trophy at Praa Sands Golf Club on Sunday morning with 60 nett, writes Simon Edwards. Richard Dunn (14) was second with 61, Ray Pearce (10) third with 62 and David Phillips (17) fourth with 63.

Nigel Waters introduced Simon Phillips as the new club vice-captain on Sunday. We all wish him a successful term of office.

Sarah Blight won the Ladies' Anniversary Trophy on Saturday with 68 nett. Lou Archer was second with 70 nett and Elizabeth Murrish third with 78 nett.

The first Friday "Fun Night" was won by Ann Seabrook, Tony Hosking and Barry Knowles with Kate Phillips, David Phillips and Nigel Waters second.

Tony Boyce won the weekly "Summer Stableford" with 38 points. Dave Rollason was second with 37 and David Phillips third with 35 on the last nine holes from Jack Hill.

Caz Hardman won the ladies' nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning with a superb 20 points. Anna Harry was second with 19 points and Ann Seabrook third with 13 points on countback from Barbara Wilkins. Chris Tonkin won the putting competition.

Nigel Waters won the final of the Lawrie Fogg Trophy with Steve Strick the runner-up.

The Friday "Fun Golf" this week will be a three-club and a putter competition.

The ladies play Val's Greensome (Stableford with pairs of one high and one low handicap) on Saturday afternoon and the men play for the Stanmar Trophy (singles medal) on Sunday morning.

There is a Bank Holiday Stableford on Monday, the weekly "Summer Stablefords" continue, the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet on Wednesday afternoon.
