There was a party atmosphere in Truro on Friday at the grand opening of the new Currys store which sees three top names under one roof at the Treliske Retail Park.

The city's mayor, Lorrie Eathorne-Gibbons, officially opened the new store, said a few words and then spent three hours chatting to customers and colleagues. There was home cooked food to celebrate the opening, and a week long raffle to win some incredible prizes started with donations to Emmaus and over the weekend supported Coastwatch, which is ongoing.

"It is incredible to see how much has changed across the county in the last 15 years," said the Currys management team. "This store is on the latest step of its journey since opening in 2000 with Currys, PC World and Carphone all standing together as one under the same roof. This is an exciting time.

"For many of us our mobile phone is always with us and keeps us in contact with all the commitments we have and the family we love. It is remarkable how much mobile phones have changed over the years and it feels great knowing we have the backup and support from a team that strives to put the customer first, always.

"Technology moves at such an ever increasing rate and allows us more freedom and flexibility than ever before, photographs are shared between family members in an instant, video calls connect us in whole new ways and even an entire library of books can now fit into a handbag or pocket.

"The level of commitment and enthusiasm from the team members we have shows every one of them is keen make a difference, We encourage the team moving forward to act bravely, challenge convention and above all else, do the right thing for all of their customers.

"We believe when you behave that way, every day, then everyone will believe anything is possible and this store, and its people, will develop and grow and support the local community long into the future."
