Cornish drivers are urged to be cautious this morning after a Met Office yellow weather warning was amended to cover the county as well as the rest of the south west.
The forecaster warned that the region and will see outbreaks of rain, which will turn heavy at times, and said the public should be aware of the risk of local surface water flooding.
An assessment by the chief forecaster said: "A slow moving front will bring heavy bursts of rain, giving the potential for over 50mm of rain within a few hours.
"Leaves may impede drainage, increasing the risk of some flooding, for example to sections of road."
The rain is expected to ease from the southwest and clear much of Cornwall by late morning.
