The occupants of a home in Carnkie were awoken by sounding alarms to find their lounge full of smoke in the early hours of this morning (11/11).
Twelve firefighters on two appliances from Falmouth and Helston were mobilised to the incident just after 2am after the smoke alarms sounded.
On arrival crews reported that there was an excessive build-up of debris behind a wood burner, due to material falling down the chimney.
A fire service spokesperson said: "The wood burner was removed from the hearth and crews used a hearth and chimney kit to extinguish a chimney fire in the flue.
"Firefighters inspected the roof space and carried out a home fire safety check before leaving scene."
