They may not be flying in the skies above Helston anymore, but one search and rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose will be acting as a permanent reminder of bravery and daring from next month.
One of the iconic red and grey Sea Kings that were used by 771 Squadron in their rescues is being placed opposite what is known locally as the "Cottage Hospital" roundabout.
Although inside the fence, on Culdrose land, the helicopter will be clearly visible to any entering the roundabout from Meneage Road, Clodgey Lane or from the Lizard Peninsula.
It is due to be put in position on March 22 and 23, having been given a fresh coat of paint.
