Culdrose Youth Football Club recently had cause for celebration after being asked to become a ‘Real Madrid Foundation’ partner club.
The Culdrose Youth team was sought out after winning numerous awards, as well as being praised for its coaching pathways. It has already achieved FA Community Club status and FA Community Club of the year, and has continued to grow in size and stature.
This has led to the club being approached by the Real Madrid Foundation to top the list as its proudest accomplishment to date. Club chairman Lieutenant Commander Andrew Plenty said of the collaboration: “Being asked to become a partner club with the Real Madrid Foundation is a huge honour. The foundation is linked into Real Madrid academies, which are set up across Europe to provide clinics that nurture promising footballers.
"This is nothing but a huge positive for the area and the reaction among the kids and coaches has been fantastic. There is so much excitement and smiles on faces, it’s like all their Christmas’s have come at once.”
The club will now host an annual Real Madrid five day clinic for 96 children in the local area. The initiative will be promoted throughout schools and there is scope for children who don’t have connections with Culdrose to take part as well. The club has previously been visited by scouts looking for the next rising star, and affiliation with an international club will help further raise it’s profile far beyond Cornwall.
