The runners of Kennall Vale School will certainly be able to cut a dash when they next race after they unveiled brand new team vests on Thursday.

The school recently launched a competition to design a new athletics vest, and this week competition winners Kennedie, Tilly and Maya were able to see their winning creation brought to life.

The school's athletics team were on hand to model the new kit, which has been sponsored by waste management company Biffa Environmental.

The school's deputy head teacher, Rob Chirgwin, said: "We're trying to maximise participation in sport, and we're updating our school's kit so that children feel that they are proud to represent the school. And we are thankful to Craig and to Biffa for sponsoring us."

Craig Mouatt, senior operations manager at Biffa Environmental, said: "We're very proud as a business to be involved with a wonderful community school such as Kennall Vale."

Rob said the school is also running a 'daily mile' programme, encouraging the children to enjoy fitness by having a ten minute run every day, with the challenge to run as far as they can.

He said: "Some run a mile, some run less. The little ones do a similar exercise but for five minutes."

The vests will be used by the school children for all future athletics and running competitions.
