Samaritans in Truro are joining volunteer organisations across the UK this Volunteers Week, and are celebrating the occasion by unveiling a new sign.
Cornwall Samaritans at Truro are taking part in Volunteers Week, held June 1 to 7.
The branch is part of a network of 201 centres with more than twenty thousand volunteers across the UK and Ireland who offer emotional support to anyone who's feeling overwhelmed.
To celebrate this week, a new sign has recently been installed and Laurence Reed, from BBC Radio Cornwall, came to unveil it.
Volunteer Gill Pipkin, who is director of Cornwall Samaritans, said: “Samaritans volunteers make a difference everywhere from schools, workplaces, communities, charity shops, festivals and events.
"We also have volunteers who fundraise for us. Samaritans services wouldn’t exist without our volunteers. Our next Information volunteering evening is June 22 at 7pm at our centre in Truro.”
