St Keverne Library will close to the public next week but then reopen as a "mobile" version.

Cornwall Council claims that this will offer a "significantly bigger" selection of books than has been offered at its current base at St Keverne Primary School.

This will close on Saturday, September 16 and reopen the following Wednesday in a mobile library van that will be parked outside the school every two weeks.

Library users will need to take their library card with them in order to loan any items and they will also be able to request, return and collect books, as well as reserve items for free and collect at other libraries such as Helston using the online system.

The first mobile library will be on Wednesday, September 20 from 12.40pm to 1.10pm.

This will be followed by Wednesday, October 4 between 2.30pm and 3.45pm, October 18 between 12.40pm and 1.10pm and November 1 from 2.30pm to 3.45pm, alternatively fortnightly from then on.

Julie Zessimedes, head of library and information services, said: “The library at St Keverne was only accessible to the public for six hours a week and had a limited selection of books. The new mobile library service will offer a significantly bigger selection for readers to choose from at a convenient location in the village.”
