A section of the A30 between Redruth and Truro was closed overnight following a serious crash.
The road near the Boxheater junction, between Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross, only reopened at 6.30am following the crash just after 10pm yesterday.
It is not known the current condition of the person involved, who was left trapped in their car and had to be cut free by firefighters.
Crews from Perranporth, Newquay and Tolvaddon fire stations were all called to the scene, along with the police.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service predicted at the time that the road was likely to be “closed for some time.”
Diversions were put in place while firefighters cut the casualty free and lifted them from the car before leaving them in the care of paramedics.
The road then remained closed for a total of more than eight hours, while investigations were carried out at the scene.
