A casualty has been pulled from the water off Lizard Point this lunchtime.
The Lizard lifeboat, coastguards from Mullion and Porthoustock, and the coastguard helicopter were all involved in the rescue after being scrambled just after 1.15pm today.
They carried out a land and sea search of the area following reports of a person being in the water.
A casualty was subsequently found on the beach and was winched into the coastguard helicopter, which transferred the person and to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
Their current condition is not known at this time.
A lifeboat spokesperson said: "Treacherous conditions and our thoughts are with the casualty and all involved in today's service."
